The Way Things Are

The Way Things Are; this is the way they have always been. Love, lust, betrayal, jealousy, heroism, honor, loyalty, stories of origin, the need for power and greed; these are all themes in Greek Mythology and traits that make us human. I wanted to explore these stories without being illustrative. Knowledge of the individual myths is not important. The drawings have been stripped down to abstracted forms that suggest the essence of humanity as well as fundamental characteristics from the myths I am exploring. These drawings utilize monumental scale to give the work a heroic quality that is consistent with the subject matter.
